2026年,基础教学部外语教研室联合外语党支部正式开启“行走· 讲述· 传承”—— Travel Far, Tell China’s Stories, Pass On the Spirit of China 讲好中国故事活动。

Hello everyone. I'm WangNing, a postgraduate from Class 25-5, Electronic Information. I visited the Lugou Bridge and the July 7th Incident Memorial Hall in Fengtai, Beijing. This place bears the deepest national memory of the Chinese nation. Through this trip, I looked back at the extraordinary and miserable years of the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression. We deeply understand that national peace and dignity are hard-won. We will inherit the unyielding national spirit, remember historical lessons, and shoulder the responsibility of rejuvenating China in the new era.

Part 1 The History of the Incident

The July 7th Incident, also known as the Lugou Bridge Incident, marked the beginning of China's full-scale War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression. On the night of July 7, 1937, Japanese troops deliberately created trouble near Lugou Bridge in the southwest of Peiping. Under the pretext of a missing soldier, they forcibly demanded entry into Wanping County for search, which was firmly rejected by Chinese defenders. Afterwards, the Japanese army bombarded Wanping County and attacked Lugou Bridge, launching an all-out war of aggression against China. As a vital traffic fortress and the strategic barrier of Peiping, Lugou Bridge’s crisis endangered the entire North China region. The incident shattered the fragile peace, bringing endless suffering and turmoil to the land and people of China. From then on, the whole nation rose up in resistance, starting eight years of arduous and bloody struggle.

Part 2 Reflecting on the War Years

Walking slowly into the July 7th Incident Memorial Hall, I was surrounded by a profound sense of history. Yellowed old photos froze the fleeting moments of war, while rusted weapons, damaged military flags and uniforms, and handwritten letters of predecessors were quietly displayed in the exhibition halls. These images and cultural relics pieced together the turbulent and difficult years of the past. Standing in silence, I seemed to travel back in time, witnessing the smoke of war over Lugou Bridge, hearing the desperate shouts of defending soldiers, and feeling the sorrow of displaced people and broken homelands. The solemn museum silently told the nation’s sufferings and struggles. This visit is far more than a simple tour; it is a spiritual pilgrimage to honor the revolutionary martyrs and purify our souls.

Part 3 Recounting History and Feelings

Wandering through the historical exhibition areas, endless emotions welled up in my heart. The July 7th Incident is an indelible scar engraved in the bones of the Chinese nation and a crucial turning point for national awakening. At the critical moment of national peril, countless patriotic soldiers and aspiring people stepped forward bravely, defying brutal aggression and sacrificing their lives for the country. Facing well-equipped invaders, they built an unbreakable Great Wall with their flesh and blood, defending the dignity of the motherland with perseverance and struggle. They never flinched or feared, disregarding personal life and death, only to protect our land and nation. Standing before these precious historical relics, I deeply realized that today’s peaceful and prosperous country is never innate. It is the glory and tranquility bought by the blood and lives of countless predecessors, which is the most profound and touching insight I have gained from this study tour.

Part 4 Inheriting the Noble Spirit

To look back on suffering history is to draw strength for progress rather than dwell on grief. The spirit of the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression forged by the July 7th Incident—self-improvement, national unity and dedication to the country—is the timeless spiritual treasure of the Chinese nation and an eternal torch passed down from generation to generation. In the peaceful present, our motherland is prosperous and stable, but the alarm of history never fades away. Growing up in a peaceful era without experiencing wars, contemporary young people need to take the initiative to remember history and hardships. As postgraduate students in the new era, we should take the initiative to tell anti-Japanese stories and spread red history. We must ensure that national sufferings are eternally remembered, the war resistance spirit never fades, and more young people can understand their responsibility to the country and inherit the noble spirit of predecessors.

Conclusion

Leaving the memorial hall and standing on the ancient Lugou Bridge, I saw the quiet stone bridge and peaceful stone lions bathing in the gentle breeze. Dear martyrs, please witness the prosperous China today. Streets are bustling with ordinary and warm life, and people live in peace and contentment. On campus, young students study diligently and grow up with dreams, heading for their bright future. The land of China is magnificent and peaceful, and the journey of national rejuvenation moves forward firmly. Time is silent, and the mountains and rivers bear witness. The prosperous era you have fought for has finally come. Rest assured, dear martyrs. Young people in the new era will learn from history and live up to our time. We will always remember the past, cherish peace, inherit the red blood and the spirit of resistance. We will guard our motherland with youthful strength, take on the mission of the times through hard work, and let the noble national spirit pass down endlessly and shine forever!
